# apt-get remove java*
I found it in a website but to do that is crazy! It destroyed completely my Linux system!!! I lost Linux operating system, and I had to install it again from the beginning. It helped me because I practiced installing Linux Debian etch. I did it from the Internet and using a CD with the basic kernel. When the basic kernel was installed, I did this:
# nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Then it opened the /etc/apt/sources.list file and I added this line at the end of the document:
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian etch main
That was to specify where the packages will be downloaded from.
Then I run this:
# apt-get update.
I still did not have a graphical environment, and I got it from the Internet downloading these packages:
# apt-get install xorg-* --> That's for video.
# apt-get install gnome --> That's for Gnome desktop environment.
#apt-get install xorg-x --> I am not sure what this is for, but I installed it.
# apt-get install gdm --> This is necessary in order to run graphical environment. I think it is for Linux user sessions.
Finally I had graphical session again and I was ready to use Linux Debian etch. It was good for me to practice again from the beginning how to install Linux from the Internet.
In my Bible reading, I finished Genesis 8 today.

I was in my Logical and Computing Circuits class from 5:00 PM. At 6:30 PM I had my Accounting class. When coming back from university I continued working with my exercises on Linux for Operating Systems class and I sent my work.tar file with my exercises and all my work, including my .bash_history file and all the required files for this activity. So I uploaded my work.tar file at 23:42 to www.unico.edu.sv/moodle, and the time limit for uploading works was at 23:55.

At 12:25 PM I was in my Operating Systems class, and we worked on Linux commands. I stayed there for the next practice at 2:00 PM for the other group (since my class is divided in 2 groups for classes at the computer lab). We learned nice things about permissions for users on Linux, how to let other users to use the CD-ROM or even an USB flash memory (since by default it is not permitted for a new user that has been created). So I learned very good things. I continued studying Linux at home when coming back from university and at night.

I had Databases class at 5:00 PM, and we worked on Access. After that I had my Logical Circuits and of Computing at 6:30 PM. Professor Andaluz showed us in general how to use Circuit Maker program to design logic gates and then we watched a video about Logic gates. When coming back home I ate and finally I studied Access. That’s the way I spent my day.

I started this day writing to Yahoo! GeoCities Pro Custumer Support because I was not able to establish a connection with my MySQL database from the PHP script I did. So I went to sleep at 1:00 AM. I woke up at 10:00 AM. I had Operating Systems class at the computer lab from 12:15 PM to 1:50 PM. Then I wanted to be again in the Operating Systems class for the other group (since we are divided in two groups for our classes at the computer lab), then I received again the class from 2:00 PM to 3:40 or 3:50 PM. We learned about using the Shell on Linux, and some important commands for working on Linux but using the Shell, not only the graphic environment. It was a very good class. When I came back home, I focused completely on trying to establish a connection between a web form for people to leave me comments, questions or suggestions from my webpage, and my MySQL database. I tried to find the problem on my PHP script, and finally I found that I did not have to write my URL as my localhost, but I had to write the word “mysql”. After some days trying to achieve this goal, I’m really excited and happy because it was possible to do it. Now people can leave me comments, questions or suggestions from my website just by writing on the web form and clicking on Send button. Information sent by people will be stored on my MySQL database, and I’m administering it with phpMyAdmin. Wow, finally I was able to do it. It was not easy because I had many problems, but finally my PHP script works perfectly with my MySQL database created with phpMyAdmin tool. This is something great for me, and it has a special meaning because it was made by myself. Now Jaime Montoya’s Comments Page is working and this is the proof, haha: http://www.jaimemontoya.com/comments.php. Also, part of the proof will be that I’ll answer personalized emails to anyone who send me comments from Jaime Montoya’s Comments Page. I did not imagine that I would be able to achieve in a few hours what I was not able to do in about 4 or maybe 5 days that I have been trying to make this work. It finally works!!! I’m so excited and I’m glad because now people can send me messages not only to my email, but also to my MySQL database, just by sending comments, questions, suggestions or messages in general from Jaime Montoya’s Home Page! What a great day! Achieving this made August 11th a really cool day for me.

I spent the whole afternoon working on Linux Debian 4 etch. I learned how to install Flash plugin on my Linux Debian 4 etch, but it was not easy at the beginning and I had a lot of touble, but finally after trying a lot, I was able to install the Flash plugins and I can already see Flash animations on the Internet from my browsers working on Linux. I also installed OpenOffice, and it was easy by using #apt-get install openoffice.org. I have been getting experience working on Linux, just learning basic things but important at the same time. At night I studied Logical Circuits and of Computing, since exam is next week and I must get a high grade on my second exam, because my grade on the first test was terrible, so I have to do my best effort on my second test and in all the other exams. Each exam is very important, so I have to work hard. I also started to read Genesis today, about The Creation in Genesis chapter 1, and it’s cool to read from the Bible. I love to read my NIV Bible.

Today I woke up around 9:30 AM. I studied Accounting and Logical and Computing Circuits at the end of the morning and in the afternoon. I had my Logical Circuits and of Computing class at 5:00 PM, and it was good, I understood everything. But I received my grade for the exam I did on July 30th, and wow, I got 2.3! It feels really bad receiving a grade like this, especially when I had studied and I think I was well prepared for this exam in general. But professor Andaluz ignored one exercise with the right answer, and it would have increased a wee bit my grade, like 0.25 points. In addition, there are 2 other exercises that I will ask him to check again, and it would increase my grade 1.25 points. So in total I would have 3.85 as my final grade on this exam, which is still a terrible grade, but better than 2.3. I’ll ask him to recheck my solutions and hopefully he will consider my situation, but even when I know he could easily say no, the best I can do is to try. Anyway 2.3, 2.55 or 3.85 is a really bad (terrible) way to begin. I know I am in trouble with this class right now. But instead of being too worried, I have to study hard and to have faith that God is in control of all steps of my life, even simple things, significant things, important things, transcendental things or anything in my life. It feels wonderful to know that no matter what, God is there teaching us always good things and understanding our situations, and helping us. I need God’s help now, since I don’t want to be getting bad grades and then being too worried at the end. The best thing is to get excellent or very good grades at the beginning so at the end I have all of my classes passed. I’ll do my best, and I need God’s help now, as I will need His help all the semester long. After the Logical Circuits and of Computing class I had my second Accounting lab. In the first one I got 9.5, and this one was completely easy, and I even think I got 10. It was very very easy, I mean too easy, and I would be surprised if I get less than
When coming back from school, I solved the exam (the one I got 2.3), and after solving it, I saw my mistakes, and hopefully the professor will consider my petition for increasing my grade, after rechecking my solutions. It will be something good for me to increase my grade, even if it is a little bit or a wee bit at least. But I will see professor Andaluz until next Monday, when I have my next class. Hopefully he still agrees to recheck my test. We will see. That was all today.

I started this day working at the computer, then I went to sleep and I woke up about 10:00 AM I think. In the afternoon I spent my time working on my website, trying to configure phpMyAdmin to work on MySQL database from my webpage. I received an answer from Yahoo! GeoCities Customer Care, and I was having problems to use phpMyAdmin because the latest version of Mozilla Firefox has some kind of problems, then I have to use Internet Explorer for using phpMyAdmin with my GeoCities Pro account. I had Accounting class at night. When coming back from school and after dinner, I continued to work on my webpage, trying to connect PHP with MySQL database (using phpMyAdmin). What I wanted to do is to use a web form in my website for people to leave me comments, questions or suggestions. Accordingly, my idea was that when the visitors write a message for me and they click on Send button, the message should go directly to the MySQL database, so I created a php script to connect with MySQL database, and I created the database with phpMyAdmin. But I was not able to reach my purpose. I’m not sure why data was not successfully sent to my database from my website, since the script is supposed to be okay, and the database too. I’ll have to make sure the connection was correctly established or to find out what was the problem, but maybe another day, since August 7th, 2007 is over and I have to sleep and be grateful because God gave me the privilege of finishing one more day.

I woke up very late in the morning, but in the afternoon and night I spent my day studying Operating Systems, and it was great to work on GNU/Linux Debian etch, which is the one I am using. I practiced a lot how to move on directories, check and assign permissions for files and directories or folders, and I even wrote my own article where I explain how to assign permissions on Linux, and it’s available from my website. I also tried to configure and use phpMyAdmin for working with a database from my website, but I couldn’t. Hopefully Yahoo! Customer Care will answer to me and let me know if something is not working properly or if I am a kind of confused. They don’t really offer support for phpMyAdmin or MySQL problems, but they can let me know the way they link the service with Yahoo! Geocities Pro, which is the plan I am paying for. It was a Linux day for me, hehe, I practiced and learned nice things, and I was able to work on my website from Linux, which is great because I don’t depend on Windows operating system to update and work on my webpage. I had a good day.

I can say that August 4th, 2007, is really a turning point in my life. I’m 21 years old and I have had so many good experiences and blessings from God since I was born of course, but from today I decided to have something like a new beginning in my life, with a different vision and a good purpose to obey Jesus and to do what is right. That’s why my Personal Diary begins from now as well, and I’m going to be publishing all of my memories (my Diary) on the Internet from this day.
I woke up very early in the morning, like at 3:00 AM to practice well my sermon for preaching at tonight. Alejandro, my father Roberto, my mother, and my aunt Blanky went with me to
Today I had the best day of my life (so far). I hope to have in the future as good days as the one that I had today. I felt great preaching, and I will never forget this special day in my life. I can totally say that August 4th, 2007 is a turning point for me, and I’m going to consider that this is the first day of my new life, I mean this life with new purposes and a sincere heart to do what is right, with a great relationship with God and my total will to work hard for achieving good goals, according to all what God has designed and has prepared to me. This is all what I’ll write today, in the inauguration of my Personal Diary, but I’ll continue writing tomorrow and every day, since today until I finish my life, I mean my life here as a Earthling, haha, since I know I’m a heaven’s citizen, and my real citizenship is in heaven, not here (that’s what I talked about in the sermon tonight). I’ll do my best to keep a good record of my life in this Diary, but God is taking the best record for all what I do, haha. Accordingly, I know my compromise is to live every day loving Jesus, and loving people. Bye for now.
